Verse of the Week 5

Last year, for my word of the year, I picked the word "Prayer".. I picked this word because it was something I indeed needed to work on to build my relationship with the Lord.

This year I have seen so many answers to my prayers. Some of those prayers have been almost  instantaneous. However, I've also learned that while he heard my prayers and still answered them, those answers come on HIS time, not on ours.

Today I got an answer to a prayer that I have been praying for nearly 20 years. Today I received a facebook message from my cousin,  a cousin I always looked up to as my older brother but whom family circumstances had torn up from each others lives over 20 years ago.  Throughout the years, I've asked others to tell me how to contact him but my family was uncooperative.  Today, the Lord had to have had a hand in bringing us together as all the cards were stacked against us finding each other after all these years.

So, today, my verse is about prayer.. and God answering those prayers.

And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith
Mark 21:22

But I also want to include a second verse.  This verse has been repeated in my life recently over and over again. I few of yall who have been linking up weekly have blogged about this verse, it was recently repeated over and over again in a couple of books that I recently read.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11

I'm finding that these two go together well because I have to believe that while he wanted to answer my prayer for the last 20 years, for whatever reason, the timing was not right for that to happen.  For whatever reason, I am so grateful that he has answered them now...

  1. Jeremiah 29:11 is one we share in our family a lot. It definitely helps keep things in perspective: the Lord's perspective.
