Yesterday marked the start of week 2 of the Advent season and the lighting of the second purple candle that represents Hope. Hope as in the excitement in the arrival of our Savior and hope as in faithfulness in God's promise.
The second candle on the Advent Wreath is the Bethlehem Candle and symbolizes the preparations being made to receive infant Jesus.
Two candles, burning bright, chasing away the darkness from light.
Two candles, glowing light, The blessing of God, giving new sight.
Old Testament Verse:
"But you, Bethlehem, only a small village in Judah, yet a ruler of Israel will come from you, one whose origins are from a distant past ... And He will stand to lead His flock with the Lord's strength ... Then His people will live undisturbed, for He will be highly honored all around the world. And He will be the source of our peace."
Micah 5:2, 4-5
" May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in Hope"
Romans 15:13
