My Daily Routine (52 Lists)

For this week's 52 Lists, we were asked to list out what our current schedule looks like.  I wish I could say that our schedule runs like clockwork but as often happens, life interferes more often than not.  Sometimes we sleep in a bit later, sometimes we get up earlier.  Some days we have to put everything on hold because one or both of the kids just aren't emotionally up to following the lesson plans and some days we rock and roll at such a clip that we're done before we even get started..  But over all, this is generally how our day works out.

52 lists with Chasing Slow

9:30am - time for mom to get up, get coffee going, let the dog out, and feed the pets.

9:30am until 10:30am - Drink coffee, check emails and facebook and generally get in the mood to start school.  This is also when I usually get a meal going in the crock pot if I'm using it that day.

10:30am until 12:30pm  - first half of classes for our school.  Our first half of class consists of our folk song and hymn (a new one each month), morning drills, poetry reading, our daily Aesop's fable, geography lessons, handwriting and reading.

12:30 til 1:15pm - Lunch time

1:15pm to 4pm - second half of school.  The second half of our day includes mathematics, natural history and science lessons, History lessons, Literature time, foreign language and Bible lessons. (History is on M, W, F and Science is on T, W).  On Fridays, we also include a nature walk.

4pm until 5:30 - FREE TIME!!  If all works well, I get to watch my DVR'ed episode of Dr Phil.

5:30-6:30pm- Dinner preparation and getting the plates to the table.  Yes, I cook dinner almost every night from scratch.. LOL

6:30-7pm - Dinner time as a family.  Yes, we all have dinner together (except dad who is at work).

7pm-8pm - Free Time..

8pm - kids take a bath

8:45pm - time for the kids to brush their teeth and get ready for bed.

9pm - the kids head to bed

9pm until 1:45am - spending time with my husband. He usually gets home from work around 11ish and so if I have any desire to spend quality time with him, it's after he gets home.  Typically we watch our tv shows together or he plays video games while I do reviews or lesson plans.  Sometime during this time, I also try to get a bath in lol

1:45am (ish) - Time for bed as I'm usually ready to drop. I typically fall asleep listening to either my  Word of Promise Audio Bible or to one of my various podcasts on my kindle.  I set a 30 minute timer and I'm usually asleep within 10 minutes.

Of course, there are some alterations to this schedule.. For example - on Thursdays we go to Awana.  On Saturday and Sunday, there's no school and we usually go to town to do things like grocery shopping and sometimes eat out.. But over all, this is how our household runs ;)

  1. Oh, I so wish I could sleep in until 9:30! I'm not a morning person. Your schedule seems very relaxed and peaceful. Thank you for sharing.

  3. I make dinner from scratch just about every night too and we try to eat as a family most nights (though it's often just the kids & myself).
