What's In Our Ipsy Bag? - May

Last month, I was introduced to a subscription service called Ipsy.. Simply put, for $10 each month (with free shipping) you get a small makeup bag with 5 or 6 products inside.  Sometimes the products are full size products, other times they are sample sizes.   Being one who isn't all that crazy about spending 10 bucks on 1 tube of lipstick only to find out that the color looks absolutely terrible on me, I figured it would be a great opportunity to try new makeup without too much of a commitment.

When I got my first bag, my oldest fell in love with it and asked for her own Ipsy subscription.  This month was the first month we both received bags so we had fun stalking the mailbox waiting to see what we got.   Each month has a theme to it that the makeup bag centers around. For the month of May, the theme was Jetsetter and while I'm not sure how the bag ties in, we still enjoyed it.

This was our haul this month :)

Our entire haul between the two of us (minus one makeup bag).. Not bad for 20 bucks :)

Alyssa's Bag

First was the Pure Lust Extreme Matte Tint,  a waterproof, non-sticky, matte finish. She received the shade Narcissist. I don't allow Alyssa to wear extremely dark shades of makeup, so this tint is just enough to provide some color without being too much.

Next up was a sample of NUDE Dude Eyeshadow from theBalm Cosmetics.  Last month I received one of these in Fit, which was a coppery colored shadow. This was Flirty, a shimmering golden violet color.  These shadows are very sheer when used dry or provide an intense metallic coverage when used with a wet brush.. (Alyssa will be wearing it dry lol).  While I'm not too keen on the packaging, especially for my 15 year old, the color is appropriate for her age.

Next up is Dermalogica Clear Start - Breakout Clearing All Over Toner. This unique all-over mist purifying toner controls excess oils and helps eliminate breakouts on the face and body. Lemongrass and bitter orange refresh, energize and revive skin. Salicylic acid combined with sesame seed extract helps minimize the surface oils that cause breakouts.   For a teenager who worries about her complexion and about breakouts, THIS is a perfect product for her :)

Here's something I REALLY wish we had received a full size bottle of.. This stuff rocks and is probably our favorite thing out of both of our bags. THIRSTYCLEANSE daily hydrating cleaner by GLAMGLOW.  This stuff starts off as a really thick mud that you smooth over your face.. Then you get it wet, it turns into a foaming face wash.   We've already both used this a few times and I have a feeling it's something we will be ordering soon ;)

Finally, we both recieved a full size can of Oscar Blandi Pronto Texture & Volume Spray. This dry weightless formula builds lasting body & texture while providing a strong, flexible hold. Can be used on all hair types. Alyssa is looking forward to using this on Saturday when she gets dressed up for the ROTC ball.

Mom's Bag

I also received a sample of eye shadow this month, Jesse's Girl Pure Pigment Eye Dust in the shade Brown Sugar.  These pure pigment eye dusts can be used alone as loose eye shadow, or over your Eyeshadow Primer for an all-day, crease-free look.  I really like eyeshadow in shades of browns, so I'm pretty excited to try this one out :)

As a perfect addition to go along with the eyeshadow I received this wonderful eyeshadow brush from Luxie Beauty.   (Tapered Blending Eye Brush # 205)   100% Animal Cruelty Free brush with high quality synthetic hair bristles that are soft to the touch and coated with a revolutionary antibacterial solution for minimal brush cleansing.   I was in need of a new eyeshadow brush, so we will see how this one holds up :)
.

Next is a sample of NUXE RĂªve de Miel Facial Cleansing and Make-Up Removing Gel.  (With three face cleaners between the two of us, we shouldn't have any problems with breakouts anytime soon.. lol) This Face Cleansing & Make-Up Removing Gel with Honey is a gentle, soap-free gel that removes make-up, cleanses and soothes the skin with honey and sunflower.

I was really excited to see that I was receiving a product from Urban Decay.  I've been wanting to try their products for a while but couldn't justify spending the money on them.. Ipsy sent me a primer lip pencil and a sample of two of their lip colors.

First is the full size Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Lip Pencil Primer. When you use this liner to fill in your lips completely, it primes them for lipstick or gloss, grabbing on to color to help it last.

And then we have the two samples of Revolution High-Color Lipgloss in colors Failbait and Bittersweet.  I'm not too sure about these - I might be willing to try the Failbait as it's a nice rose pink but the purple/plum color of the Bittersweet seems a bit too extreme for me.. lol    Maybe I'll be adventurous one day and give it a try though ;)

These Ipsy bags were alot of fun for the two of us and she's already asking when the next one will be coming.   If nothing else, it's 10 dollars well spent on bonding time with my oldest, trying various makeup techniques and products.
